Philinda Parsons (Rand) Anglemyer taught English in the Philippines from 1901 to 1907. She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, to John B. and Victoria (Cheek) Rand. She graduated from Radcliffe College in 1899 with a degree in zoology. While in the Philippines, she met and married Thaddeus Delos Anglemyer, and gave birth to their first child, Katharine.
